Time for fall canning

In the October 2011 issue of Penn's Acres Kitchen, so many recipes contained the letter "p:" pumpkins, pears, pizza and others all figured largely. I promised another glimpse of "p" activity in the kitchen: the Potholder Pups at work preserving pears.

The same crew after having put grape juice for the winter. Now the grape vines, which shade our patio all summer, are empty of fruit and all but empty of leaves. Fall is here.
