Welcome to Penn's Acres Kitchen!
Come join me in Penn’s Acres Kitchen, one of my very favorite places. In our 1839 Pennsylvania brick farmhouse, it’s warm, bright, and friendly, and there’s usually something happening that smells good. If not, I can always start something cooking—or at least run my fingers through the rosemary plant on the windowsill.
We enjoy the challenge of delicious creativity with minimum labor, always eager to do the most with whatever is on hand. Whether it’s fresh produce from the Acres, orphaned apples no one wants, or food right from the grocery store, we’ll make something tasty. We rarely seem to buy convenience foods—stubbornly convinced we can make the same thing better, faster, and cheaper. And it's a lot more fun!
Step into the quiet kitchen, listen to the music, inhale the toasty aroma of freshly-baked bread.
Penn’s Acres Kitchen, a slice-of-life letter of kitchen, garden, and heart, was launched in March 2006. Join us for a cup of coffee and a bite of tiramisu trifle or apple pudding around the old oak table; let’s see what’s cooking and find out where “Penn’s Acres” got its name!
Pull up a chair to share in the fun with us.
Please join me in the kitchen ten times a year to talk and laugh. We'll bake something delicious and swap recipes, find out what the children and grandchildren are doing. Penn's Acres Kitchen is published monthly except August and January. To subscribe, send a check for $15 for a year’s subscription (10 issues) or $12 for an emailed subscription (print your own; I trust you to print just one). Make check payable to Jacquelyn A.
